Description
This course will introduce students to the various careers in mathematics through presentations on career opportunities, thematic lectures, and roundtable discussions.
For students with an AED contract as part of a pre-professional training program, the course unit supports their work at the school by providing resources designed to enrich their observations and help them gain perspective. It also aims to prepare them for the written assignment they will be required to submit.
Objectives
Meetings with professionals working in the field of applied sciences (industry, research organizations), teachers at various levels, and alumni to learn about the various careers in mathematics
Mandatory Prerequisites
None
Recommended prerequisites: First-year math
Knowledge Assessment
For students with an AED contract as part of a pre-professional training program, a written assignment based on an observation rubric: analysis of a teaching session.
For the rest of the students, have them create a poster in groups about a career that interests them, with a prize for the best entries. Oral presentation and Q&A session before a panel of judges.
