Description
This Solid Mechanics course focuses on the study of articulated systems consisting of rigid solids through their movements and equilibrium positions. The concepts covered include velocity fields in solids, the classification of connections, and forces. Graphical kinematic and static methods are also used.
Objectives
- Be able to determine the kinematic fields for a rigid solid
- Use the concepts of force tensor, connection tensor, and kinematic tensor.
- Be able to apply the Fundamental Principle of Statics to simple or multi-body systems.
- Use graphical methods to solve kinematic and static problems.
Teaching hours
- Kinematics and statics of solids - CMLecture6 p.m.
- Kinematics and statics of solids - TutorialTutorials27 hours
Mandatory prerequisites
Basic calculation rules, trigonometry, vectors, vector product, derivation of composite functions.
Recommended prerequisites*: Calculus course
