Objectives

Basing a collective choice on individual opinions is a complex problem... which can be addressed using fairly simple mathematics. This course covers the mathematical formalization of this problem, starting with the work of Borda and Condorcet (late 18th century) and continuing through to contemporary developments. The latter open up innovative perspectives for improving democratic life. A brief focus will be placed on computational choice.
