Presentation
This university diploma provides a comprehensive approach to and understanding of older people. It responds to demand from the gerontology sector and emerging African countries that wish to establish a culture of gerontology in their institutions and networks.
Objectives
- Get to know the elderly person in all aspects: medical, psychological, and social.
- Understanding the issues raised by aging
- Understanding the psychology of older adults and its implications for daily life
- Use the necessary tools to identify frail and/or vulnerable individuals.
- Identify and utilize support and care networks for frail and vulnerable individuals
- Networking in the context of supporting and/or caring for frail and/or vulnerable people
Know-how and skills
- Developing observation and analytical skills in order to provide support that is closely tailored to the needs of the elderly person.
- Knowing how to assess the remaining abilities of older adults
- Better understanding the behavior of older adults
- Adopting appropriate attitudes and responses
