Presentation
Tilapia is one of the most widely farmed fish in the world. This cichlid owes its success to its hardiness and high reproductive capacity, which have greatly contributed to its domestication on a global scale. Using tilapia as a model, this training course provides the essential theoretical foundations in genetics required for the domestication of species and the preservation of bloodlines. Spanning three days, the course equips participants with the essential knowledge to successfully carry out a domestication process and ensure rigorous genetic management of populations, thereby guaranteeing optimal farming conditions.
Micro-certifications are short, themed training modules accessible to all, designed to offer direct and practical access to our scientific and technical expertise. They combine immersive theoretical courses with our learners and individualized practical work carried out on our aquaculture facilities.
These micro-certifications enable participants to develop key skills in a specific subject in just a few hours, allowing everyone to quickly gain autonomy in putting their knowledge into practice.

Objectives
- Understanding that the domestication of an aquatic species depends largely on controlling its genetic evolution
- Identify the principles common to the methods used in aquaculture and aquarium science
- Understanding the consequences of poor genetic management
- Understand the basics of implementing a genetic selection program and best practices for maintaining a breeding line
