Presentation
Developed within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the professional degree in industrial trades: metallurgy, shaping of materials and welding, course: welded assemblies is part of the continuity of a reinforced teaching on welding.
In addition, it is important to highlight the granting of the International Welding Technologist (IWT) certification by the French Welding Association (AFS), which follows a normative description of the competences of the graduates at international level. This certification has become indispensable for any company in the mechanical engineering sector in order to be able to respond to numerous calls for tender, for which it is required.
The training responds to a strong demand from the profession, which needs to recruit professionals in the welding professions, from specialised welders to welding engineers, and which currently still finds very few qualified people on the job market.
By training some twenty level II welding coordinators each year with IWT certification, the Nîmes IUT is one of only five centres in France, and the only public establishment, to deliver this certification.
