Presentation

Developed within the Mechanical Engineering Department, the professional bachelor's degree in Industrial Trades: Metallurgy, Material Forming, and Welding, with a focus on welded assemblies, is part of a broader effort to strengthen education in the field of welding.

Furthermore, it is important to highlight the awarding of the International Welding Technologist (IWT) certification by the French Welding Association (AFS), which complies with a normative description of the skills of graduates at the international level. This certification has become essential for any company in the mechanical engineering sector in order to be able to respond to numerous calls for tenders, for which it is required.

The training program responds to strong demand from the profession, which needs to recruit professionals in welding trades ranging from specialized welders to welding engineers, and which currently finds very few qualified people on the job market.

By training around twenty Level II welding coordinators with IWT certification each year, the IUT in Nîmes is one of five centers in France, and the only public institution, to award this certification.
