Aeronautics, a growth sector in Occitania!
The Montpellier region, with its dynamic aeronautical industry, is also a major center for training. A dynamic supported by the University of Montpellier, which has created a vocational degree in "Industrial trades, aeronautical industry" to meet the needs of this fast-expanding sector, with its many job opportunities.
The "Industrial professions: aeronautical industry" professional license is offered at IUT Montpellier-Sète , with the Avionics Systems Maintenance (MSA) course , on the Montpellier IUT site,
The LP MSA is only offered on a sandwich course basis.
Objectives
The aim of the "Industrial professions: aeronautical industry" professional license is to train specialists in the organization, technical implementation and supervision of aircraft maintenance tasks.
The student will become a professional in the aeronautical field, working as a technician or workshop manager in aeronautical maintenance, testing and quality, particularly in avionics and aircraft on-board instruments.

An aeronautical maintenance and testing technician uses these skills in particular:
- Managing and organizing aircraft maintenance operations.
- Carrying out controls and processing results.
- Drafting of procedures and technical reports.
- Teamwork, supervision.
- Technical communication, especially in English.

The bachelor's degree consists of 17 weeks of training and 35 weeks of work experience, with the following work-study schedule:
- 1 month in training (2 months for the1st period) and 1 month on the job
With an apprenticeship contract with CFA ENSUP LR Sud de France or a professionalization contract with SFCUM.

The program is accessible only through a sandwich course, comprising 17 weeks of training and 35 weeks of work experience.

- A multidisciplinary course (450H) focusing on aeronautical maintenance, particularly avionics systems:
- Aeronautical maintenance methods
- Regulations (PART 145 PART M), ATA chapters
- Aircraft electrification, aircraft system controls
- Avionics systems
- Flight mechanics, Aerodynamic modeling
- Propulsion
- Non-destructive testing methods
- Business communication, English
- A targeted refresher course based on previous experience (20h)
- Tutored project (120h)
- Personalized support for work-study students
On-site training takes place at the physical measurements department of the Montpellier IUT and at the Halle aéronautique of the École Supérieure des Métiers de l'Aéronautique (Montpellier airport).

Registration for a Licence Professionnelle at the IUT consists of 3 stages. Each stage must be validated before moving on to the next:
Step 1 - Acceptance of the application :
- Hold a Bac +2 or equivalent*.
- Complete file.
Stage 2 - Eligibility Admissibility: Decided by a pedagogical committee after examination of the application (Curriculum Vitae, Letter of Motivation, Transcript of grades... details on e-candidat). Subject to certain conditions, the committee may request additional documents.
Step 3 - Final admission Final admission: Subject to the signature of a work-study contract (apprenticeship or professionalization contract) within a company with assignments in line with the LPro theme, within the limits of available training places.
Recommended profiles: BTS Aéronautique, MS, MM, CIEL option B; B.U.T MP, GEII, GIM, GMP; L2 or L3 (EEA, Physics, Mechanics skills).

Students go on to become professionals in the aeronautics field, working as ground or flight test technicians or workshop managers.
