Coordination of Projects in Environmental Education and Sustainable Development, and Networks

The program runs for one academic year, beginning in September, in Florac, Lozère. It includes:
• a two-week immersion at the Florac Institute and a one-week observational internship at a company or nonprofit organization (at the employer’s site for work-study students);
• lectures and tutorials: 400 hours. Part of the instruction will be delivered through active and project-based learning;
• Supervised project: 130 hours;
• Professional placement: 14 weeks from April to June / in a company as part of a work-study program or continuing education;
• Assessment: continuous assessment or final exam at the end of each module. Mandatory oral defense of the report;
• A “Professional and Personal Project” module prepares students for their entry into the workforce.

Training Program:

Module 0: Orientation and Project Planning: Group Immersion in a Local Community and Professional Culture (91 hours)
- Exploring the training region
- Observing and analyzing the role of an EEDD project coordinator in a professional organization
- Group assessment/consulting assignment at a professional organization

Module 1: Integrating Projects into Local Contexts and Major Societal Challenges (100 hours – ECTS credits: 6)
- Examining and Engaging with the Societal Challenges of EEDD
- Building a Culture of Scientific Inquiry in EEDD
- Integrating Projects into Changing Local Contexts
- Receiving Support and Sharing Your Personal and Professional Goals

UE 2: Educational, Didactic, and Training Approaches in EEDD (80 hours – ECTS credits: 5)
- Adopt a scientific approach to educational issues in EEDD
- Be able to justify pedagogical and educational choices
- Adopt the mindset and skills necessary for training interventions

UE 3: Coordination and Support Approaches (70 hours - ECTS credits: 4)
- Distinguish between and master the tools and approaches used by advisors, support providers, and mediators
- Gain an introduction to tools that promote reflection and change in support and training
- Be able to analyze the actual work of a project coordinator in EEDD

Module 4: Modern Languages and Communication (50 hours - ECTS credits: 4)
- Practicing a foreign language while building confidence and self-esteem
- Knowing how to use professional language related to ESD in a foreign language
- Speaking in public with ease to present a project, an initiative...

Module 5: Facilitating and Coordinating Work Groups (70 hours - ECTS credits: 5)
- Coordinating a team of facilitators or a group of professionals
- Knowing how to structure discussion sessions and meetings tailored to the intended objectives and the participants present

Module 6: Writing and Designing an EEDD Project in a Specific Region (90 hours - ECTS credits: 6)
- Be able to design, write, and plan the monitoring of a project
- Identify the different legal statuses and operating procedures of EEDD partner organizations
- Know how to interact with a communications service provider

Course Unit 7: Supervised Project (140 hours – ECTS credits: 10)
Apprentices and work-study students will be at their employers’ workplaces during this course unit. They will write a thesis or activity report to evaluate Course Units 7 and 8 simultaneously (adapted evaluation rubric).

Module 8: Professional Experience and Report/Thesis Writing (490 hours – ECTS credits: 20)
- The report will document the professional experience and its analysis.
• For the “traditional” program: based on the internship experience (minimum 14 weeks),
• For the work-study program: based on assignments identified in consultation with the employer and the program director. The activity report will be used to evaluate both UE 7 and UE 8 simultaneously (adapted evaluation rubric).
