Presentation
The professional license in Legal Representation for the Protection of Adults is designed to train professionals who wish to support vulnerable individuals in both personal and financial matters. The program is designed and organized in partnership with the Regional Institute of Social Work.
Objectives
Understand the legal and institutional framework for the legal protection of adults and the various protection regimes
Identify the scope and limits of the measures
Understand the regulatory and legal basis for social action and the principles in force
Develop working methods and tools in line with the reform's expectations: assessment, individualization of intervention, respect for the rights and freedoms of adults
Develop techniques in communication and budget management
Develop a professional identity and ethics
Master the fundamentals of guardianship intervention
Organization

Theoretical training on the IRTS campus or at the Faculty of Law, practical training in a company. Calendar available on the IRTS and University websites.
Training open to apprenticeship contracts, professional training contracts, and continuing education.
The training allows students to acquire or deepen their theoretical and practical knowledge and skills.
Duration of the program: 1 year (September to September)
450 hours (lectures/tutorials/exams)
Theoretical teaching, practical teaching, learning methods and tools for professional practice
Teaching provided by university lecturers and professionals in the field
Compulsory work-study program or minimum 14-week internship for people undergoing retraining.
Compulsory and monitored attendance at classes

Admission
Admission requirements
Limited number of places. Applications must be submitted via the University of Montpellier's e-candidat platform starting in March of each year.
The program will open for the 2025/2026 academic year, subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
Target audience
The program is open to individuals who have earned 120 ECTS credits (two years of postsecondary education)
L2 in Law, Economics, Management, Economic and Social Administration, Health and Social Sciences
DUT / BTS / BUT in social sciences and management, administration, law, finance
Level 6 state diplomas in social work (ASS, ES, EJE, CESF, ETS)
People who are currently working or retraining: possibility of applying for validation of professional and personal experience (VAPP).

Holders of the professional bachelor's degree are primarily intended to work as:
Judicial representative for the protection of adults (guardianship associations)
Judicial representative for the protection of adults working as an institution official (civil service)
Judicial representative for the protection of adults working on an individual basis (professional experience required)
