Presentation
The DU provides a comprehensive approach and knowledge of the elderly. It meets a demand from the gerontology sector and from emerging African countries wishing to anchor a culture of gerontology in their establishments and networks.
Objectives
- Understand all aspects of the elderly person: medical, psychological and social.
- Understanding the issues raised by aging
- Understanding the psychology of the elderly and its impact on daily life
- Use the tools needed to identify vulnerable and/or fragile people
- Identify and use support and care networks for fragile and vulnerable people
- Working in a network to support and/or care for vulnerable and/or fragile people
Know-how and skills
- Develop a sense of observation and analysis with a view to providing support that is as close as possible to the needs of the elderly person.
- Assessing the remaining capacities of the elderly
- Better understand the behaviors of the elderly
- Adopt appropriate attitudes and reactions
- Develop your listening skills
- Adapt to changing situations
