Common Service for Continuing Education
Presentation
This DU provides a global approach and knowledge of the elderly. It responds to a demand from the gerontology sector and from emerging African countries that wish to anchor a culture of gerontology in their establishments and networks.
Objectives
- To know the elderly person in all their dimensions: medical, psychological, social.
- Knowing the problems posed by aging
- Understand the psychology of the elderly and its consequences in everyday life
- Use the tools necessary to identify fragile and/or vulnerable people
- Identify and use the support and care networks for fragile and vulnerable people
- Work in a network in the context of support and/or care for fragile and/or vulnerable people
Know-how and skills
- Develop a sense of observation and analysis in order to provide support that is as close as possible to the needs of the elderly person
- Knowing how to assess the remaining capacities of the elderly
- Better understand the behaviors of the elderly
- Adopt appropriate attitudes and reactions
- Develop your listening skills
- Knowing how to adapt to the situations encountered
