Presentation

The university certificate in Hearing Aid Technology is intended for hearing aid technicians and all audiology professionals who wish to learn the fundamentals of hearing aid use.

Required level: high school diploma or vocational training certificate - Selection based on application.

Desired prerequisites: Power functions and logarithms in base 10.

 

The University Certificate in Audioprosthetic Techniques should not be confused with or considered equivalent to the State Diploma in Audioprosthetics, which is the only legal qualification allowing the profession to be practiced in the United States.

No equivalence may be granted for all or part of the state diploma.

  • Concepts of acoustics, electroacoustics, psychoacoustics, and phonetics
  • Concepts of hearing aid technology
  • Concepts of audiometry and audiometric techniques
  • Use of measurement chains
  • Reimbursements & hygiene
  • Right to hearing aids

 

Practical training

  • Manufacture and shaping of end caps
  • Overview of different types of hearing aids and audio accessories
  •  Use of the measurement chain and manufacturers' software to read the settings programmed into a hearing aid. Fault detection.
  • Using a sound level meter
  • Audiometry
  • Telecare
