In addition to the professional skills required of any applicant seeking to be included on a list of experts at a court of appeal, judicial expertise requires an introduction to the functioning of the judicial system in general and to the judicial procedures governing expertise in particular, as well as practical training in the performance of an expert assessment, from the acceptance of the assignment to the submission of the report.
This university diploma is intended for all professionals, regardless of their field of expertise, who wish to train in forensic expertise, as well as those who are already forensic experts and wish to further their training.
Objectives
The skills acquired during the university diploma program will enable graduates to conduct expert assessments for civil, administrative, or criminal courts. During the program, students will acquire a general understanding of the legal system, knowledge of the guiding principles of litigation, and knowledge of the rules of criminal, civil, and administrative procedure relevant to expert witness work. They will be introduced to the duties and obligations of expert witnesses (including tax obligations) and trained in the actual work of expert witnesses (summoning, conducting an expert assessment, drafting and submitting a report).
