The advantages of the training program

Mandatory attendance at the SFOP course or conference in the year of registration.
Requirements for degree validation:
- Attendance at all seminars (1 absence permitted) and all clinics (200 hours)
- Thesis (bibliography according to I.A.A.)
- Clinical case presentation given during training, carried out at his/her home faculty

Objectives
Enable dental surgeons to specialize in pediatric dentistry, mastering the specialties of treating children and/or adolescents, as well as sick and/or disabled children. This DIU provides knowledge in the areas of prevention, oral and dental therapies, treatment of rare oral and dental diseases, and traumatology. In addition, it includes the monitoring of patients under sedation, sedative premedication, nitrous oxide inhalation sedation (MEOPA), or general anesthesia.
Know-how and skills
- Implementation of preventive measures, particularly for families of children with early childhood caries (ECC), and introduction to therapeutic education for children and their families.
- Prescribe and interpret additional examinations (panoramic radiography, cone beam, CT scan) while incorporating the principles of radiation protection for growing children.
- Diagnose and treat the main oral and dental conditions in children: assessment of individual caries risk (RCI), periodontal disease, and orofacial functions and dysfunctions.
- Diagnose various syndromic dental anomalies, whether genetic or non-genetic in origin.
- Assess medical risks (infectious, hemorrhagic) according to different situations.
- Know how to assess and manage pain and anxiety in children, master anesthetic techniques, and adapt them to clinical situations.
- Implement various oral and dental treatments under sedation, premedication, MEOPA inhalation, or general anesthesia.
- Understanding oral surgery in children.
- Understanding prosthetics in children.
- Respond to emergency situations, particularly in cases of oral trauma, and know how to collaborate with maxillofacial surgery specialists.
- Communicate and collaborate with child specialists from other medical and paramedical disciplines.
