Overview
The launch of the “Diplôme d’Études Supérieures de Notariat” (DE) will enable the implementation of the reform of the notary degree in accordance with:
- Decree No. 73-609 of July 5, 1973, concerning professional training in the notarial profession and the conditions for admission to the office of notary, as amended by Decree No. 2022-1298 of October 7, 2022.
- Order of July 5, 2023, regarding the Diploma of Higher Studies in Notarial Practice
- Agreements 232574 and 232496 signed by the INFN and the University of Montpellier regarding
Objectives
Training to Become a Notary
Expertise and Skills
Graduates of the notary program will have the skills to:
- Draft routine legal documents
- Practice business law
- Practice real estate law
- Master the techniques of family property law
- Master the ethical rules specific to this profession.
- Be able to draft legal documents in the fields of real estate law, family law, and business law.
- Master the fundamentals of notarial accounting, understand the provisions of the notarial collective bargaining agreement, know how to manage a team, and understand the various structures for professional practice.
Admission
Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold either:
- An accredited Master’s degree in Notarial Law (automatic admission to the DESN program).
- A non-accredited Master’s degree in Notarial Law or any other Master’s degree in Law or a degree deemed equivalent, and have been preselected by the National Selection Committee in accordance with Articles 15 and 16 of the decree of July 5, 2023, regarding the Diploma of Higher Studies in Notarial Law
