5UE – 45 hours – 6 months of e-learning
- Introductory module (key concepts in gerontology, processes of frailty, etc.)
- General public knowledge (Alzheimer's disease and dementia, behavioral disorders and care, etc.)
- Conceptual and practical approaches (Factors and criteria of fragility and vulnerability)
- Ethical and legal approaches (good treatment and abuse, legal protection of vulnerable adults, criminal liability, etc.)
- Support and assistance services (personal care professions, SSIAD, MAIA, etc.)

Objectives
Understanding the concepts of Vulnerability and Fragility
Understanding the consequences of frailty in aging
Understanding the concepts of frailty and vulnerability in the medical, psychological, and social dimensions of older adults
Knowing how to identify and anticipate factors that weaken resilience
Understanding the ethical and legal issues related to fragility
Identify and use networks and support systems for vulnerable individuals
Know-how and skills
- Identify elderly people who are frail and/or vulnerable
- Developing observation and analytical skills in order to provide support that is closely tailored to the needs of older people.
- Identifying a behavioral disorder and understanding its causes
- Adapting to situations of fragility and vulnerability
- Adopt a professional attitude appropriate to the situation of the individuals involved.
- Identify factors contributing to frailty and vulnerability in older adults
- Identify environments that cause vulnerability and know how to adapt them

A written exam at the end of the course (assignment to be submitted).

- Level 4 and 5 professionals
- Practicing professionals: Home helpers, agents, nursing assistants, medical-psychological assistants, care assistants, special education teachers, medical-social services staff (nursing homes, ESATs, etc.), local government staff, SSIAD staff.
