Overview
This training program is intended for part-time or contract teachers who wish to prepare for the competitive examination for internal recruitment leading to the “certifié” rank or its corresponding pay scale for foreign language teachers (English or Spanish).
Organized under an agreement with the Montpellier Academy’s Academic Delegation for Education Personnel Training (DAFPEN) and the School of Education, the program offers free admission and priority enrollment to teachers registered through DAFPEN.
However, the program is also open—as part of the initial training track—to students who do not have access to the Montpellier Academy’s Academic Training Plan and wish to take one of these competitive exams.
The program is structured around the knowledge and skills required to pass the qualifying and admission exams. Upon completion of the DE, a certificate of completion is issued to students who have attended at least 75% of the program.
Objectives
Prepare for the internal competitive exams that grant access to the certified rank or its pay scale.
Expertise and Skills
- Be able to apply the specific knowledge and skills (scientific and pedagogical) acquired to teach history and geography in secondary school: key issues, subject-specific concepts, teaching approaches, etc.;
- Master the Common Core of Knowledge, Skills, and Culture and the various competency-based assessment methods;
- Prepare the application materials for the qualifying exam as part of the program;
- Develop a meaningful perspective on one's career path;
- Prepare for the admission exam by mastering all the scientific, didactic, and pedagogical requirements in accordance with the competency framework for teaching professions.

Admission
Admission Requirements
A four-year college degree or special admission provisions for entrance exams.
Target Audience
This training program is intended for part-time or contract teachers who wish to prepare for the competitive examination for internal recruitment leading to the “certifié” rank or its corresponding pay scale for foreign language teachers (English or Spanish).
Tuition Fees
Organized under an agreement with the Montpellier Academy’s Academic Delegation for Education Personnel Training (DAFPEN) and the School of Education, the program offers free admission and priority enrollment to teachers registered through DAFPEN.
The program is also open, as part of the initial training track, to students who do not have access to the Montpellier Academy’s Academic Training Plan and wish to take one of these competitive exams. Tuition is €100 for the initial training track (price subject to change).

Employment Placement
Teaching of humanities in public or private schools (EPLE) as a tenured teacher if successful on the competitive exam, or as a contract teacher if unsuccessful.
