Objectives
Improve clinical research capacity in Uganda, particularly in the field of clinical trials, by introducing the methodological principles of clinical trials, the operational aspects of setting up and monitoring them, and the regulatory aspects.
Know-how and skills
Skills acquired:
Understanding of the fundamental principles of comparative clinical trials to evaluate the efficacy and safety of medical interventions.
-Understanding of the benefits and operational aspects of randomization.
-Understanding of the benefits, indications and operational aspects of double-blind trials.
-Understanding of the ethical issues and rationale behind the regulations governing clinical trials.
-Knowledge of Good Clinical and Laboratory Practice, and the regulatory aspects of clinical trials.Knowledge of Good Clinical and Laboratory Practice, and of the regulatory aspects of clinical trials.
-Knowledge of the main methodological features of clinical trials.
-Knowledge of the principles of sample size calculation and statistical analysis for clinical trials.

Target audience
- Initial training:
-Students enrolled in the 2nd year of the Master of Public Health program at MUST (in Uganda)
-Continuing training:
-Health professionals (doctors, pharmacists, nurses, psychologists, etc.)
-Veterinarians with experience or interest in medical research or public health.
