Presentation
Warning: The content of this training is given as an indication (2020-2021 base); the teachings will be subject to modifications for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The Materials (MAT) specialization trains general engineers (bac+5) capable of developing, elaborating, characterizing, transforming and using materials. It raises their awareness of eco-design and sustainable development.
The advantages of the training
ALL OF THE SCHOOL'S COURSES ARE BASED ON A NETWORK OF SOLID PARTNERSHIPS WITH :
- the industrial world (800 internships, 200 industrial projects and 50 apprenticeship contracts per year),
- academic research (14 associated research laboratories),
- International (more than 100 partner universities around the world).
Know-how and skills
Upon graduation, the MAT student-engineer :
- Acquired a strong scientific foundation in chemistry, physics and mechanics;
- Has a good knowledge of the technologies specific to the different classes of materials (polymers, glasses, ceramics, metals...);
- Is able to manage the technical, human and economic aspects of a project or an activity in the field of high diffusion or high added value materials;
- Is attentive to the issues of sustainability, recycling and eco-design.
He is qualified to perform the following functions:
- Research and development
- Design
- Tests and studies
- Quality and standardization
- Production
- Expertise and technical advice
- Maintenance

SPECIALIZATION IN4th YEAR
From the4th year onwards, MAT students can specialize:
- or in physical chemistry of materials,
- or in mechanics of materials.
However, a common core for both options remains important in the4th and5th years.
