Presentation
Please note: The content of this program is provided for informational purposes only (based on 2020-2021); courses are subject to change for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The Materials (MAT) specialization trains generalist engineers (five years of higher education) capable of developing, designing, characterizing, transforming, and using materials. It raises their awareness of eco-design and sustainable development.
The advantages of the training program
ALL OF THE SCHOOL'S TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON A NETWORK OF STRONG PARTNERSHIPS WITH:
- the industrial world (800 internships, 200 industrial projects, and 50 apprenticeship contracts per year),
- academic research (14 associated research laboratories),
- International (more than 100 partner universities worldwide).
Know-how and skills
Upon graduating from school, MAT engineering students:
- Acquired a solid scientific foundation in chemistry, physics, and mechanics;
- Has a good knowledge of technologies specific to different classes of materials (polymers, glass, ceramics, metals, etc.);
- Is capable of managing the technical, human, and economic aspects of a project or activity in the field of widely used or high value-added materials;
- Is attentive to issues of sustainability, recycling, and eco-design.
He is qualified to perform the following duties:
- Research and development
- Design
- Tests and studies
- Quality and standardization
- Production
- Expertise and technical advice
- Maintenance

Special facilities
THE TECHNOLOGY HALL
The school has a technology hall equipped with specific state-of-the-art equipment that students specializing in materials use to carry out their practical work and projects.
- Equipment for processing and shaping materials: furnace, agitator, press, polisher, cutting machine, oven, etc.
- Material characterization tools: microscope, particle size analyzer, spectrometer, dilatometer, thermogravimeter and calorimetric analysis, chromatograph, rheometer, tensile testing machine, extensometer, refractometer, etc.

SPECIALIZATION IN THE4TH YEAR
Starting in thefourth year, MAT students can specialize in:
- either in the physical chemistry of materials,
- or in materials mechanics.
However, a core curriculum common to both options remains important inthe fourth andfifth years.
