The Water and Civil Engineering (EGC) specialization trains engineers (bac+5) through apprenticeships, specializing in the supervision of hydraulic engineering projects at the heart of cities and land use planning.
The advantages of the training program
A STRONG PARTNERSHIP
The EGC program receives strong support from the Occitanie region through the Regional Higher Education Apprentice Training Center (CFA ENSUP LR).
ALL OF THE SCHOOL'S TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON A NETWORK OF STRONG PARTNERSHIPS WITH:
- the industrial world (800 internships, 200 industrial projects, and 50 apprenticeship contracts per year),
- academic research (14 associated research laboratories),
- International (more than 100 partner universities worldwide).
Objectives
THE BENEFITS OF APPRENTICESHIPS
- Free high-level studies.
- A real first professional experience.
- Employee status for three years.
- Rapid entry into the workforce after graduation.
Know-how and skills
Upon graduating from school, EGC engineering students:
- Acquired a solid scientific foundation (mathematics, computer science) and a language certification in English;
- Mastery of technical knowledge in the fields of water and civil engineering, essential for designing, sizing, constructing, operating, and maintaining large hydraulic structures for urban and regional development;
- Able to manage the human and economic aspects of a hydraulic engineering project, from design to delivery.
He is qualified to perform the following duties:
- Construction engineer / design and planning / operations
- Project manager
- Project management assistant
- Project manager / agency / company.

8 weeks / 20 weeks in thethird year (2 periods at school)
Program
THE ORIGINALITIES
- Alternating between school and work.
- Dual technical expertise in water (hydraulics, processes) and civil engineering (dimensioning, construction).
- A four-week international experience.
- Some classes are held at the IUT in Nîmes.
MAIN SUBJECTS TAUGHT
- mathematics
- hydraulics / hydrology
- process engineering / chemistry / microbiology
- geotechnics / structures / standards
- topography / construction / organization
- humanities and social sciences
- modern languages and communication
A complete list of teaching units (UE) and available hours is available at www.polytech-montpellier.fr, under the heading Training / Water and Civil Engineering.
PROFESSIONAL UNITS
In-company training is supervised by an industrial tutor, the apprenticeship supervisor, and monitored by an educational tutor, the teacher. It is organized around five professional units:
- knowledge of the company (UP1) -1st year
- Technical Environment (UP2) -1st year
- Scientific and/or technological application (UP3) -2nd year
- Business Conduct (UP4) -2nd year
- End-of-studies industrial project (UP5) -3rd year
