Presentation
The Microelectronics and Automation (MEA) specialization trains versatile engineers (bac+5) with recognized skills in electronics and microelectronics, automation and robotics, computer engineering, and industrial computing.
The advantages of the training program
Cutting-edge collaboration with industry
MEA engineering students are taught by professors who also conduct research and technology transfer activities in the school's partner research laboratories.
Many of these projects are carried out in collaboration with industry.
They concern cutting-edge fields that future engineers will encounter: integrated circuit design and testing, sensor design, radio frequency identification, space and nuclear radiation hardening, electron microscopy, acoustic microscopy, electrical power transmission, manipulation robotics, medical robotics, mobile robotics.
ALL OF THE SCHOOL'S TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON A NETWORK OF STRONG PARTNERSHIPS WITH:
- the industrial world (800 internships, 200 industrial projects, and 50 apprenticeship contracts per year),
- academic research (14 associated research laboratories),
- International (more than 100 partner universities worldwide).
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN APPRENTICESHIPS?
If you are more interested in a work-study program than a "traditional" student path, POLYTECH Montpellier also offers an apprenticeship program in Embedded Systems (SE), which is very similar to the topics covered in the MEA program.
Know-how and skills
Upon graduating from school, MEA engineering students:
- Acquired solid scientific foundations in the fields of physics, electronics, automation, and industrial computing;
- Has a good knowledge of technologies specific to current embedded systems, both hardware and software, and is proficient in the associated design tools (CAD);
- Has acquired specialization in the field of integrated circuit design or robotics;
- Is capable of managing the technical, human, and economic aspects of a project or activity in the fields of electronic and automatic systems;
- Is attentive to issues of sustainability, recycling, and eco-design.
He is qualified to perform the following duties:
- R&D Engineer
- Design and consulting engineer
- Methods and Industrialization Engineer
- Operations and maintenance engineer
- Quality Engineer
- Technical sales engineer
- Business engineer
- Project Manager
- Information systems administrator
Organization
Internships, supervised projects
Internship | Mandatory |
|---|---|
Internship abroad | Mandatory |
Engineering students complete several mandatory internships in companies or research laboratories:
- 1- to 3-month internship at the end of thethird year;
- 1- to 3-month internship at the end of thefourth year;
- 5- to 6-month internship at the end of the5th year.
In5th year, they carry out an end-of-studies industrial project (300 hours) that places them in a professional situation and allows them to develop their autonomy.
