Organization

Knowledge assessment

- 1st Session:

A one-hour written exam per course unit

Validation of each course unit: Obtain a grade higher than 10/20

- 1 Oral resit exam per failed course unit

Validation: average of the written and oral EU exams and a grade of 10/20 or higher.

Program

Candidates for the CES in periodontology must meet the following requirements:

- Have validated the specific compulsory teaching units (12 ECTS)

- Have successfully completed a compulsory course in fundamental sciences (4 ECTS)

 

 

A/ Specific compulsory EU courses: 12 ECTS

 

UE 1: From healthy periodontium to pathological periodontium (4 ECTS)

EC1: Periodontal Physiology

EC2: Etiopathogenesis of periodontal diseases (biofilm, host responses, etc.)

EC3: Periodontal healing (repair and regeneration)

EC4: Classification and epidemiology of periodontal diseases

EC5: Risk factors in periodontics

EC6: Periodontal health and general health

EC7: Diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plan

 

UE 2: Periodontal Therapies (4 ECTS)

EC1: Non-surgical treatments (hygiene, mechanical treatments, and alternative therapies)

EC2: The contribution of medications (antibiotics, antiseptics, etc.)

EC3: Surgical treatments: supraosseous, infraosseous, interradicular, and combined lesions.

EC4: Supportive periodontal therapy

EC5: Long-term results of periodontal therapies

 

EU 3: Associated Therapies (4 ECTS)

EC1: Periodontal plastic surgery

EC2: Orthopedic periodontal treatments

EC3: Endo-periodontal relationships

EC4: Restraints in periodontics   

EC5: Periodontics and implantology

EC6: Prosthetics and periodontics 

B/ EU Fundamental Sciences

UE 4 in Fundamental Sciences: choose from the following topics:

Anatomy and histology of the periodontium, immunology and oral cavity, oral microbiology, healing (mucosal and bone), biological properties of biomaterials, chosen from a teaching unit from a master's degree program or a CES in fundamental sciences.

Admission requirements

  • Hold a doctorate in dental surgery entitling the holder to practice the profession in the country where it was obtained or in the candidate's country of origin.
  • Candidates who have successfully completed some of these course units are requested to provide proof of completion when registering.
