Overview
CERTIFICATE OF ADVANCED STUDIES IN BIOMATERIALS IN DENTISTRY, WITH A SPECIALIZATION IN CHARACTERIZATION AND EVALUATION.
Objectives
In this track, students must complete the following requirements:
- in-depth methodological knowledge in the areas of the behavior, characterization, and evaluation of biomaterials used in dentistry;
- the essential concepts needed for their admission to a doctoral program in the field of dental biomaterials.
Organization
Knowledge Assessment
Students must complete the following course units (16 ECTS):
UE1: General Concepts in Biomaterials: Overview, Requirements, Structure, Degradation, and Concepts Related to Implantable Biomaterials. (4 ECTS)
UE2: Behavior and Characterization of Biomaterials (Fundamentals) (4 ECTS)
UE3: Dental Biomaterials. (4 ECTS)
UE4 in basic science corresponding to the field of clinical application of biomaterials selected in another clinical CES. (4 ECTS)
Session 1: 1 one-hour written exam per course unit
Requirements for passing each course unit: earn a grade higher than 12/20
2nd Make-up Session for Each Unpassed Course Unit
Requirements for passing: an average score on the written and oral components of the EU exam, and a score of 10/20 or higher
Program
The program awards 16 ECTS credits and consists of 3 specific course units (12 ECTS) and 1 core course unit (4 ECTS).
Admission
Admission Requirements
- Hold a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree that qualifies the candidate to practice the profession in the country where the degree was earned or in the candidate's country of origin.
- Students who have successfully completed some of these course units are asked to provide proof of completion when they register.
