Presentation

Objectives

Speech-language pathology is a healthcare profession that involves preventing, assessing and treating difficulties or disorders in oral and written language and communication, oro-my-facial functions, other cognitive activities including those related to phonation, speech, oral and written language and mathematical cognition.

Speech therapists provide care for patients of all ages with congenital, developmental or acquired disorders, regardless of gender, age, culture, socio-cultural level or type of pathology.

As a healthcare professional, the Speech-Language Pathologist also works with patients, their carers, healthcare and education professionals, and the general public, in the context of prevention and screening, therapeutic patient education, expertise and advice, and care coordination. Speech therapists may also take part in research activities as part of multidisciplinary teams.

Speech therapy studies last 5 years, are divided into 2 cycles and lead to a Master's degree.

Knowledge control

Knowledge control procedures

In each Teaching Unit (UE), skills and knowledge may vary. This may involve a final exam, and/or continuous assessment and/or validation of attendance at certain courses. The assessment methods chosen for each UE are published definitively no later than one month after the start of the academic year.

There are two examination sessions per year:

- a first session at the end of each semester.

- a second session at the beginning of July, during which each student will sit for the UEs not validated during the first session.

The validation of a UE is pronounced by the jury after deliberation when the student has obtained a mark equal to or higher than 10/20.
